SOME JOINED UP THINKING!

GLOBALLY LOCAL
in collaboration with
MIDLANDS ECO PARTNERSHIP (MEP) and  THE BIG GREEN BOOK (BGB)

are organising a joint small business/inter-network day

SATURDAY 9 OCTOBER 2010 - from. 10.30a.m. to 4.00p.m.
with main 'consultations' over lunch and early afternoon,
and  facilities available into early evening if required.

The venue is TOP BARN FARM - see  www.topbarn.co.uk   for information on this family farm with historic local roots, and international interests as far away as Uganda,
via Farmers Overseas Action Group.  Learn something of rural diversification on this visit.

PROGRAMME DRAFT OUTLINE
3 main workshops and  'Open'  consultations after morning introductory presentations TO CONSIDER     the following proposals:-
a) facilitating TRANSITION neighbourhood groups with help from Birmingham City Council;
b) launching  an ETHICAL TRADING COOPERATIVE, and retail high street outlet;
c) establishing  a WEST MIDLANDS HUB for BGB now with 22,000+ business members.
d) improving  URBAN/RURAL relations – courtesy Staffordshire Food Hub & Top Barn Farm.

Facilities include:- 
a) Top Barn Conference Centre with WIFI included;
b) vegan and vegetarian lunch;
c) activities and facilities of this open 500 acre farm, stretching down to the River Severn.
(morning exploration of the farm with optional trailer tour with farm manager).

COSTS  some concessions available – farm trailer extra
a) £10 + VAT for adults, to include conference centre, all day drinks and lunch
b) accompanied children free – separate facilities arranged.

TRAVEL
a) train to Droitwich or Worcester with coach or mini-bus pickup (please state if interested )
b) car (car share possible) taking 45 minutes from Birmingham city centre.
